You Need Responsive Design

If you don't know what responsive design is, now is the time to learn, Dan Gaertner, president of Homes.com, wrote in a recent commentary on RISMedia. Responsive design websites automatically adjust for viewing on desktops, smartphones, tablets, and other devices. This capability enhances consumers' mobile search experience because they do not have to worry about formatting problems that prevent certain features from displaying or pages looking too small.

According to the National Association of REALTORS®' Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, 89 percent of new-home shoppers use a mobile search engine, and 68 percent use a mobile application when doing research on available homes.

Gaertner cites other research that shows that 57 percent of consumers refuse to recommend businesses with poorly designed websites, and 60 percent expect mobile websites to load in fewer than three seconds. This means agents need to switch to a responsive design website to avoid losing business to their competitors, Gaertner says.
