StreetEasy to Shut Down 3 of Its Listing Sites

Real estate listing site StreetEasy announced it would be shutting down its Web sites outside of the New York area. Its listing Web sites for Washington, Philadelphia, and South Florida will go dark on Oct. 11.

StreetEasy will continue to list homes on a site for the New York metro area -- which includes New York City, the Hamptons, and northern New Jersey, according to the company. “We have realigned our focus to the New York metro market and therefore have elected to sunset” our sites in other markets, according to a statement posted on the company’s Web site. The site attracts 1 million–plus visitors a month.

Late this summer, StreetEasy was purchased by Zillow Inc. for $50 million. StreetEasy says on its site that Zillow has a stronger national presence in the markets where it has decided to shut down.
