Brokerage Relo Departments Expanding Services

As more employees are on the move again, brokerage relocation departments are expanding and evaluating new ways to serve workers who are changing cities.

A new survey by RISMedia’s Power Broker Report reveals several of the new specialized services popping up in relocation departments recently. For example, more pre-decision services are being offered, which are designed to assist employees in evaluating their situation before accepting a relocation assignment. The services include assisting employees in reviewing home-market analyses, policy benefits, and destination area costs and counseling.

Relocation offices also indicated a growing need among employees for senior mobility services, since they sometimes relocate with elder dependents that require specialized information or assistance with housing options and arrangements.

Relocation departments are also adding services that focus on short sales and REOs, such as advisory services, educational materials, and short sale/REO seminars. Relocation departments may need to assist employees in considering vacant or tenant-occupied arrangements for a limited time.

“Corporate relocation policies are continually evolving, and these changes can represent new roles for brokerage relocation departments,” writes Peg Guinta, projects director for the RIS Consulting Group.
