Agent Shot Outside $1.88M Listing

A Canadian real estate professional in Maple Ridge, B.C., is recovering in the hospital after being shot multiple times in the head at a rural property that he’s listing. Franz Prokop with Macdonald Realty is in stable condition following the shooting.

Prokop was shot on the 19-acre grounds of his $1.88 million listing. His real estate agency declined to comment to media on whether Prokop was showing the property to a potential buyer at the time.

Prokop reportedly was able to call police after he was shot and also was able to flag down a passing car for help. Two black SUVs with license plates covered in cardboard were spotted on the scene by witnesses.

Police cast a wide net, closing down roads throughout the city, looking for the shooter but have yet to charge anyone. They believe Prokop was targeted and that the incident was not random.

The property has been connected to several search warrants in the last few years, according to police. Police say the home previously housed a marijuana grow operation and a meth lab. In 2010, eight people were arrested on the grounds when a semi-trailer filled with million dollars worth of brand name merchandise was set on fire.
