U.S. News & World Report recently ranked the most difficult cities to make ends meet in retirement. The publication's ranking was based on the cost of living, housing, and taxes in those places.
The following are the seven costliest retirement spots, including the median amount retirees spend on their mortgages.
1. Bridgeport, Conn.
Median amount retirees spend on mortgage per month: $2,440
2. Honolulu
Median mortgage payment: $2,118
3. Los Angeles
Median amount retirees spend on mortgage per month: $1,996
4. New York City
Median mortgage payment: $2,200
5. Oxnard, Calif.
Median mortgage payment: $2,107
6. Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Median mortgage payment: $1,918
7. San Diego
Median mortgage payment: $1,971
