Before real estate professionals develop their specific goals for 2013, they should:  

1. Review their 2012 business results to determine how many leads they received, and from which sources.

2. Plan to spend more time on lead generation in 2013, focusing on phone calls and face-to-face meetings rather than depend too much on social media marketing.

3. Establish an ongoing communications/marketing plan to keep in front of their top referral sources and continually generate leads.

4. Consider strategies to stay in touch with valued clients and how much money they should devote to generating referrals. 

Overall, agents should think of themselves as business owners and ensure their wants, needs, and skills align with their business goals.
