Police Charge Agent With Stealing Signs

Police have charged a real estate agent from Shelton, Conn., for allegedly stealing a competitor’s for-sale signs from the front lawns of listings.

Robert Toth, owner of American Home Realty in Trumbull, Conn., was charged last week with third-degree larceny and first-degree criminal trespass.

Jihad Shaheer, owner of U.S. Asset Realty, had filed complaints with the police in September, saying that his signs had been stolen from more than a half-dozen properties he’s listing in Bridgeport and Stratford.

Police say they believe Toth is behind the missing signs. Toth had worked for Shaheer previously, prior to opening his own real estate company.

Toth has declined to comment on the pending charges.
