Which cities boast the highest median incomes? 24/7 Wall St. reviewed city income data, median home prices, and poverty rates of 366 metros across the country to determine the wealthiest cities. 

The following are the six metros that topped the list as the wealthiest:

1. Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, D.C.-Va.-Md.-W.Va.

  • Median household income: $86,680
  • Households below the poverty line: 8.3%

2. San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, Calif.

  • Median household income: $84,012
  • Households below the poverty line: 10.6%

3. Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk, Conn.

  • Median household income: $77,289
  • Households below the poverty line: 9.4%

4. Oxnard-Thousand Oaks-Ventura, Calif.

  • Median household income: $74,623
  • Households below the poverty line: 11.3%

5. Trenton-Ewing, N.J.

  • Median household income: $73,890
  • Households below the poverty line: 11.4%

6. San Francisco-Oakland-Fremont, Calif. 

  • Median household income: $71,975
  • Households below the poverty line: 11.9%
