Mortgage Delinquencies Up, Still Lower Than Last Year

Mortgages at least 30 days past due climbed 3.4 percent in June to 7.14 percent, but remained 7.3 percent below June 2011 levels, according to a report from Lender Processing Services. The gain marked the third straight increase in delinquencies following nine months of decline.  Meanwhile, foreclosure inventory fell 2 percent to 2.061 million properties, down 1 percent from a year earlier.

Also in the report:

Total properties 30 or more days delinquent (but not in foreclosure) or are foreclosure pre-sale inventory: 5,663,000

States with highest percentage of non-current (delinquent or foreclosed) loans as of June 2012:

  • Florida
  • Mississippi
  • Nevada
  • New Jersey
  • Illinois


States with the lowest percentage of non-current (delinquent or foreclosed) loans as of June 2012:

  • Montana
  • Alaska
  • Wyoming
  • South Dakota
  • North Dakota
