Art Godi was 1996 president of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®.
A major change in NAR's structure will ensure that the national dues you pay cover primarily those activities benefiting the membership at large. The new structure will also enable NAR to develop targeted products and services you can purchase to increase your edge in the marketplace.
To those of us consumed with the day-to-day demands of business, the legislative twists and turns in Washington, D.C., and the national association's part in them can seem irrelevant and confusing. Yet, what happens---or doesn't happen---in the nation's capital does have a big impact on us as real estate practitioners.
One way is to get involved at the local, state, or national level. But if the pressures of business prevent you from doing that, it's still possible to make your voice heard using these channels.
Thousands of REALTORS® make a habit of political involvement. They know they're getting a good return on their investment of time. This year is especially important.
We're making greater communication with you a top priority. We intend to meet face-to-face with at least 10 percent of you this year. That's more than 70,000 members. We want to hear your concerns and suggestions about how the REALTOR® organization can help you succeed in this complex world.
