From Farm to Family Man

Growing up in an Arkansas farm community (pop: 63) gave Cy Phillips, ABR, CRS, e-PRO, GRI, SRES, his small-town roots while planting the seed for big-time success. “Farming isn’t a 40-hour-per-week job and neither is real estate,” he says. Fast forward and Phillips, 29, is a residential specialist handling 102 transaction sides, with a largely referral-based business. His secret is “top-of-mind awareness,” getting customers to think of him before other agents. “He’s always there, always really helpful, and eager to do things right,” says Cindy Pelz, executive officer of his local association. As for the future, Phillips stresses the need to balance career and family. “I don’t want my business to run my schedule,” he explains. “I want to run my business.”
