No Ceiling in Real Estate

Four years into his job as an insurance adjuster, Paul Kiger felt he had reached a ceiling. He joined the real estate industry in 2007 and was a quick success. A year later, he greatly impressed a retiring agent, which led to millions in business. In January 2009, he expanded into the nearby Louisville, Ky., market; 30 percent of his 2009 income was from across the state line.

A 6,000-square-foot Labor of Love

Kiger is passionate about urban revitalization—and he puts his money where his mouth is. At the start of his career, he purchased and began restoring a French Second Empire home in downtown New Albany. The 1886 residence has since served as the setting for many charitable events; someday, Kiger hopes to make it the office of his own brokerage.

Shake Things Up

Kiger uses the term "disruption by design" to describe how he likes to shake things up around the office. It's disruption with a worthy goal: training sometimes-skeptical colleagues about how to use new marketing tools, including RE/MAX's LeadStreet application.
